The 13-year-old allegedly left a voicemail to the school threatening a shooting shortly after 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, according to the Takoma Park Police Department.
The middle school was placed under lockdown as a precaution as summer school had been in session. After a sweep of the building to clear any threats, the lockdown was lifted and summer school resumed.
An investigation led detectives to the teen, who was formally charged and released to the custody of her parents.
